Sorry folks, looks like the server move/re-opening of TWC threw some kinks into Ladder reporting

I'll repost the matches/results and we'll extend the reporting period to the end of this week's tournament

Please check your reports and make sure they are there

Historically Ladder matches have been done based solely on Ladder averages with no consideration of the closeness of the averages to each other
ie Player 1 vs Player 2, Player 3 vs Player 4, Player 5 vs Player 6, etc from lowest to highest average, ie -10.4 vs -10.25, -10.1 vs -9.95, etc
(that, and Ladder players would not be matched against a member of their own team)

At times, this does not work - for instance when there is a significant difference between players who would be matched based on 1, 2, 3 order

This occurs at the top, in the middle, and at the bottom of different levels

This has been more noticeable this year, and in fact one Team has left Ladder because they were continually being matched against players with much lower averages - due solely to the number of players on different teams playing in that level, and the consistently low scores.

Effective immediately Ladder Matches will be made as follows:
Players will be ranked from low (-ve number) to high (+ve number) based on Ladder average
Players will be matched 1 vs 2, 3 vs 4, etc unless 2 team members would be matched
- in which case the 1st team member would be matched with the next player who is NOT on their team
- and the 2nd team member would be matched with the next player after that who is not a team member
*New*
If the difference between 2 players is > 2.5, no match will be made
and the matching will begin again excluding the 1st player

Effect: yes, some players will NOT be assigned a match depending how near/away from the next player on the list

We regret having to take this step but this has been a bone of contention for some time
Players who are not matched will be identified separately to avoid 'why wasn't i matched' questions on Sundays

We've always stated that Ladder is for fun and we will not force anyone to play a level they don't want to and this is still the case
However when there are unfair matches in the system, that isn't fun for anyone

Comments appreciated - as always rants, off topic, and alcohol induced mutterings will be dealt with accordingly

1) Ladder Clubs are limited to 10 players including the Manager. Once you have reached 10 players, please set your club to private so that it is closed.

2) If you are a member of a Team already, you must be removed from that Team before creating a new Team.

3) Individual club forums do not have passwords this year. As a member of a club you will be automatically able to view your clubs forum (and not that of other clubs).

4) Ladder staff has to approve each new club so you will not be able to perform manager functions until the club has been approved.Only one Team Leader needed this year

5) Please PM JBCalg for Admin review/approval when done

Needless to say - so it is being said - Team names or variations thereof from TWC site are reserved for the previous 'owner/user'

your 24-HR login name MUST be the same as your EASO name,
please don't even bother starting a Team or joining one, or accepting a member in until that's done
there's no rush and it is easier for all to have it set up correct from the start

EDIT: When adding Team members, use the login/easo name - the forum name will show up in the member name box when you start typing - but then you get an error - use login/easo name only - we're working on linking the other database to the name box

ALL login name change requests should be sent JBCalg using the PM system
and include current 24-HR login name and the EASO name to change to
please include whether the display name should also be changed (it really does make it easier)

We've re-posted the Ladder rules but please note they are under review (keeps the summer students working) and may/will be amended before Ladder begins
- One change I made already is: You must be a Standard member to start a Team
- this is about participation, not play some rounds and move on

There is no set Ladder start date

We'll start by using TW-08 until Christmas and re-evaluate from there

For those that are new, 4 things happen each week in Ladder

1. The Ladder conditions are posted on tuesdays, based on the Upcoming Ladder Schedule that is a pinned topic - up near the top of the Forum list
it will resemble this one from this week: Playing Conditions for 24-HR Ladder FUN Tournament #2

2. The Players list is posted after the current Tuesday 9:00 pm ET deadline
If you have not selected or changed your Playing Level by then - too late
here's a Sample Player List from last year

3. Shortly before the Tournament closes Sunday at 5:00 pm ET, a Match-Up List will be posted, showing who plays who

4. Shortly after the Tournament closes Sunday at 5:00 pm ET, the Results will be posted

easiest way is :
go to Ladder Team page (Features, TW Club Ladder on top menu)
then select Player Standings & Listing
then click on Club in the table headings, that re-sorts the list by club
scroll down to see yours, levels selected are on far right

Posted as a FYI - the TWC site worked exactly the same as described below

We continue to rely on EASO for Tournament scores, using Login Names which must be the same as your EASO name
These are the names on the Team Lists (Features menu, TW Club Ladder)

See EASO Name Changes in Announcements for more on correcting your login name

But - when members have a different Forum name it can be difficult for Team Leader or Opponents to communicate with them

Here's a few tips:
1. Go to your Team Lists (Features menu, TW Club Ladder), click on PM on right side of a name
that will open a PM message box with DISPLAY name on it, not EASO name
- that will show the connection between the 2 'names' used

2. to verify an EASO name - http://www.twleaderboards.net/index.php - TW Leaderboards
click on Player Search - enter full or partial EASO name
if it's correct the full EASO name will appear, click on it to see their EASO stats

3. Sometimes there's a space in a name - MyEASOname might actually be My EASO name - but at this point we're not going to ask people to change names unless our scoring system needs it

4. Capitals or lower case make no difference in all or part of the name - again, if it ever does make a difference, we'll get things changed at that time

5. ADDED: Although we are currently using email address when logging into the site, the login name remains what you originally registered, ie should be same as EASO Name

6. ADDED: If you know their forum/display name, click on it or find them in the Members directory (Support tab on top, Membership list), then look at their profile, clicking on the TW Club Ladder tab

After your Team is approved

So take a few minutes to go through these and become familiar with the different things you can do

One thing I've noticed already is that some members are registering here using a different name than their EASO name

I'd appreciate it if YOU as Team Leader watched for that and make sure it gets changed - have the member PM me - once Ladder starts the non-EASO name means an automatic loss, not a great way to start the season off

Any questions, please ask here so others can learn about the Team Manager settings too
